How Geothermal Works

We all know that Hattiesburg homes are acceptable to varying temperatures throughout the year. Some climates can see the extremes that summer and winter hit us with. There is a consistent source of temperature that you can utilize; just a few feet below the earth's surface. How is that possible?

The sun instills the Earth's crust with its heat energy. Forty-seven percent of that energy is cumulated in the ground as heat. WaterFurnace geothermal systems draw from this heating potential using an earth loop system; harvesting this free heat for your home. This cutting-edge technology uses the sun's heat that the earth has conveniently accumulated to condition your home or office.

Geothermal Heating

Using the earth loop, a WaterFurnace geothermal heat pump extracts the heat from the ground in the heating cycle. The geothermal system draws the heat from the loops and delivers this warmed air through a standard duct system. Additional choices include using that same heat to provide hot water and radiant floor heating are available.

Geothermal Cooling

The heating process is reversed in the cooling mode - creating cold, conditioned air throughout the home. Instead of extracting heat from the ground, heat is taken from the air in your home and either moved back into the earth loop, or used to preheat the water in your hot water tank.
